Ghufran is a girl like other girls who was known for her love for science and her passion for learning, and she was distinguished in her class and distinguished from her peers, because of the earthquake on 6/2/2023 that hit northwest Syria and Turkey, and the house was exposed to large cracks that led to the displacement of the family to the Salqin camps. Ghufran was cut off The eight-year-old left school, and after knowing the news from the most affected areas, and the death of some acquaintances and friends in the Jenderes district of the mother’s relatives, which also increased the feeling of fear, and as a result of the aftershocks that are still continuing, which made matters worse, all of this made the parents move away from any wall or Sitting under any roof and moving away from the school in which Ghufran used to study, so that her dream of achieving her goals would die.
And at the beginning of the fourth month, SADAD worked in the governorates of Aleppo and Idlib, including the city of Darkush, to set up temporary learning centers, which are tents that were built in the schoolyards to reduce the feeling of fear and provide a somewhat safe educational environment for students, which made parents feel a sense of safety and lack of fear. On their children or worry about the collapse of concrete walls or ceilings, which is the cause of death during earthquakes in the eyes of parents and students.
These tents were not only temporary educational centers, but also centers for psychological support sessions provided by specialists in this matter, and they had a great role in persuading the parents and Ghufran was among the many students who returned with their aspirations and dreams to their school, and we must also not forget Fadl The principal, who was always in contact with Ghufran’s family, provided many psychological first aid sessions, in addition to the activities that helped her play and integrate with the rest of the children.
After Ghufran’s return to school, a sense of safety and psychological comfort began to enter her depths, because she found her lost dream of having tents and teachers who provide and teach students what was lost during the interruption period. Ghufran’s self-confidence increased a lot, and she had the desire to go back to school and continue her education.
Ghufran says, “After I left school, I became very upset with her because I didn’t want to go to work, because I became very afraid of buildings, especially for high places, and that also made me very afraid. After we moved to the camps of Nah Salqin, I was told that my cousin, who was living in Jenderes, died because of the earthquake here. I was very afraid, but I still know where I want to go.”
“During the period of nullification from school, I felt that my dream had stopped and died, and I wanted to complete my studies. After the time had passed, the school administration contacted us and talked to Mama, and I explained to her about the school and what the organization presented, and that there would be tents within the school in which we would take lessons. I went to school without fear or feeling that something might come at me.”
And the mother adds, “We were very happy with her father, and we felt that there was a kind of safety and psychological comfort when Ghufran goes to school, and God willing, there will be no more tremors in the coming days.”
Ghufran continues, “I love to send a message to the whole world that fear is difficult, but, God willing, our Lord does not cut anyone off, and every problem has no solution. Praise be to God. I am very happy and happy for this, keep you strong and do not be afraid and follow your education because it is a powerful weapon in the hands of a person
Finally, I hope that the SADAD organization will take care of our schools and not leave us, but the year has ended, and they will continue to support our school and all schools.
