SHO through its project supported by the Humanitarian Fund, is working to create a safe educational environment for 67,340 students in 259 schools affected by the earthquake in the districts of (Afrin, Bulbul, Jindires, Maabatli, Rajo, Sharan, Sheikh Al-Hadid, and Azaz) in Aleppo.
Student numbers include (32,966 boys and 34,374 girls) including 2020 CwD to access quality comprehensive education and basic child protection services through the implementation of two phases:

Phase1(preparing the learning environment of affected schools):

  • 1050 classrooms and 100 wash facilities will be rehabilitated lightly in addition to furniture maintenance.
  • provision of safety equipment to 259 schools affected by the EQ.

Phase2(provision of remedial and child protection essential services in 165 rehabilitated schools):

  • SHO is going to recruit 495 remedial teachers and 165 PSS workers to provide one cycle of remedial classes for three months and essential child protection services (PSS, awareness-raising sessions, referrals) targeting 16,500 students enrolled in formal education.
  • conduct 165 back-to-learning campaigns.
  • procure and distribute teaching and learning materials, running cost, learning, and PSS materials kits to the children in remedial classes.
  • 4-train the teachers and children on safety and evacuation, and train the teachers and other supporting staff on PFA and child safeguarding.
  • provide the schools with heating fuel and heaters during winter.
