Yumna was born in the Atma camps, far from her village, with a face as beautiful as the moon. However, her

 appearance changed after a short period when a large birthmark appeared on most of her face, altering her once beautiful features. No one knew the reason behind this change, which led to a significant

 reaction from her family and relatives. They blamed the mother, even though this condition was not anyone’s fault. Yumna began to feel isolated because of the facial disfigurement, but her grandmother became her biggest emotional support, encouraging her to overcome this challenge and telling her that the mark only enhanced her beauty and uniqueness.

As Yumna started school, her suffering worsened as she faced bullying from her classmates. This prompted the

 psychological support team from the Sadad organization to step in, offering support to both her grandmother and family to help Yumna get through this difficult test, especially with the beginning of her schooling. She frequently received questions from her classmates, particularly about the reason for her facial disfigurement, which caused her great embarrassment and sometimes led her to leave school.

Sadad, in collaboration with the administration of Al-Asdiqaa School — supported by Avens — and in coordination with psychological support teams, worked with Yumna’s family to devise a plan to eliminate bullying. They organized awareness sessions and recreational activities, integrating her with her classmates and helping her regain safety and self-confidence.

After a series of targeted activities and awareness sessions conducted by the psychological support teams, a noticeable change was observed in Yumna’s behavior. She began participating in recreational activities, interacting with her peers, and her academic performance improved. The psychological support teams continued their sessions and recreational activities with Yumna and her classmates to ensure she felt comfortable, safe, and learned how to

respond to others confidently.

Yumna showed remarkable academic progress compared to her peers, excelling both academically and socially. During most school events and celebrations, she would deliver welcoming speeches and recite captivating poems.

Her story became one of triumph and resilience, demonstrating the power of support, understanding, and perseverance in overcoming life’s challenges.
